Abby Mangold (MCIPR), MD and Founder

I founded Mangold Consultancy in 2014, inspired to bring together everything I’d learnt from 15 years at the BBC and my subsequent crisis experience ‘on the other side’ with global PR agency Burson-Marsteller.

Negotiating with Communications Directors and CEOs, as a Producer on BBC Watchdog, informed my understanding of how to best handle the press. Rehearsing live interviews with Anne Robinson each week, fine tuned my ability to get my point across under challenging circumstances.

I am at my best face-to-face, be it media training, talking through a rebuttal to an allegation, working alongside teams engulfed in an issue or putting a CEO and their team to work during a crisis simulation. I always bring an outside perspective – thinking as a journalist, consumer, business owner and comms professional.

Big business doesn’t always enjoy the most favourable of reputations. Companies are being scrutinised from all angles and I thrive on preparing for those difficult questions, challenging my clients on their answers to ensure they’re honest, concise and relevant.

Mangold Consultancy is a safe pair of hands when a crisis hits. We bring a reinforced and stable support to your team, helping you to negotiate the challenges, minimise damage and recover your business and its reputation.

Jess Mangold, Client Services Director

As a journalist, I wrote breaking news and features, for national newspapers and honed an instinct for current affairs which still informs my communications thinking.

Having worked in the public and private sector, both in-house and agency side, I earned a rich mix of insight from specialist NHS hospitals, to the Alzheimer’s Society, through to the planning, development and arts sectors, as well as global brands and high street retail. I am used to providing senior counsel in the face of reputational scrutiny, working closely with leaders and in-house teams. This includes strategic communications for complex projects, leading proactive press campaigns, and advising on effective stakeholder engagement and consultation.

With an appetite for following headlines across the daily news and social media agenda, I thrive on tracking who said what, how it plays back to others and the resulting impact for individual organisations and the sectors they work in. Always sticking close to my journalistic roots, I help clients scrutinise issues from all angles, and assess the wider landscape impacting them, their work and their stakeholders.

Justin Clark

A self-confessed social media addict, I help businesses understand the digital landscape and how it impacts them during times of crisis. Using data and digital tools I help organisations understand what people are saying about their brand online – the good, the bad and the ugly – and help them prepare for a crisis when it breaks on their social feeds.

I have extensive experience working in-house and consulting in crisis communications, PR, political relations and social media across Government and the public sector.

As Head of Social Media at Transport for Greater Manchester I transformed how the largest transport authority outside London communicates online. My previous experience includes leading social media in the Higher Education and Transport sectors and helping business transform its use of social media.

In a previous life, supporting the work of senior MPs, I advised on how to communicate effectively, managed media relations for high profile national and international political issues, and supported the work of Select Committees and All-Party Parliamentary groups in Parliament.

Amanda Coleman

After two decades working in law enforcement communication, I left to make crisis communication my business. Helping businesses respond effectively to crises and critical incidents is my passion and in May 2020 my book Crisis Communication Strategies was published. It is a practical guide based on my experiences managing incidents including the Manchester Arena terrorist attack in 2017, riots and the murder of two police officers.

As Head of Corporate Communication for Greater Manchester Police, I developed an award-winning team providing a total communication service to the second largest police force in England and Wales. I was chair of the Association of Police Communicators from 2013-2017 and the chair of the PRCA Council in 2019.

I started my working life as a journalist and the nose for news has remained a key part of my working life ever since.

Estelle Kinzett

My background is in HR Management, having spent almost 15 years working in a large secondary school as HR Manager. Prior to that I spent several years working in financial services, both as a Building Society Manager and latterly a Bank Manager.

Covid gave me the opportunity to re-evaluate and make some changes. I realised that I had a wealth of experience and a wide range of administrative skills that I could use to help and support business owners. I set up my own VA business at the end of 2021. I love what I do. It’s a privilege to be a part of such a diverse and interesting business and to work with such great people.

On a personal basis, one of the things I love is motorbiking! There’s nothing like riding down to the coast, or through the countryside, both home and abroad, on a beautiful sunny day with friends, enjoying the scenery and stopping for a bite to eat along the way.
